is the log file in some kind of binary format ?

While the files exists, and has a content per:
	$ wc ~/.claws-mail/filtering.log
	 1356 10062 70767 /home/ron/.claws-mail/filtering.log

Trying to grep it, or to open it in an editor with:
	$ mousepad ~/.claws-mail/filtering.log
gives nothing at all.
