[Users] Bug 3256, any insight?

Can one of the hotshot developers please comment on bug #3256? [1]  I
would like to put together a patch, but I have trouble determining what
code it is that messes with the selection.  The crucial function seems
to be execute_actions() in src/action.c but that by itself doesn't seem
to touch the selection.  Can I get a hint?
