SIGH...  so much happened...  above:  s/unread/read/g

OK....  making headway into understanding this...  looks like each time I
ran CM with the damaged matcherrc ([filtering] rules accidentally moved
to [preglobal]), the rule _copied_ existing messages back into the same
folder; but without the "Received:" headers.  

That finally explains the multiple copies.  So... "move" becomes "copy"
when matcherrc gets altered the way I did it...  and with the removed
headers, this appears to be deliberate...  

Never underestimate the ability of a user to trigger unplanned-for path
execution...  LOL
