That's probably because Yahoo did not always have IMAP in the last ten
years...

And when it started to have IMAP, it was "supported" and advertised for
mobile devices only at first, see for example:

It just recently started to advertise it's usage for:

That wasn't always the case (as mentioned above).

Thanks, but I don't know how to build it, so doesn't really help.
