I am about to be ex-Debian person, trying to function until I can
change things. I will not install systemd. And I suspect the huge
list of claws packages being held back, are likely being held back in
part because systemd would need to be installed.
A while ago, it looked like Gentoo and Slackware might hold out from
systemd, but then Sabayon (sp?) (a binary Gentoo, derivative) seemed to
decide it is going to go systemd. And one wonders how this decision
might force Gentoo to also join the systemd ranks in Linux.
Slackware, seems to be the only other large holdout on forcing everyone
to systemd. How long can slackware function, when all the other major
distributions push systemd?
Looking further afield, Dragon Fly BSD seems interesting. Is Dragon
Fly OS a good choice for a Debian desktop person? Things to look out
for? Or does a person have to look to Plan 9 or Inferno?
Have a great day!
Gord
