That's my opinion also. I like important info show up in one place
every day, rather than my having to remember to go look in three dozen
forums. And sign into each. What a mess.

If the OP was asking for a forum *in addition to* the mailing list, I
don't care either way. But if anyone starts saying "we have a forum, so
why maintain the mailing list", I'll not be happy.
