I did not want to create a new thread.

I wanted to make a reply on the same thread.

Well, actually, I am not very experienced with mailing lists, at least not yet :p.

I do not like mailing lists. An explanation is available over there:

http://sylpheed.sraoss.jp/redmine/issues/173#note-2

;)

So, it would be nice if there would be an offical Claws Mail forum available.

That would be much better IMHO.

Anyway:

Well, I always thought that when you want to reply to a mailing list thread, all you need to do is using the same subject and then send the email to the mailing list (users at lists.claws-mail.org in this case)...

Looks like this might be a wrong assumption ;o?

But how does the mailing list/the client/whatever know that I am replying to a specific thread, if not from the subject? What's being used there? Is it the "Message-ID"? Or what is it?

Also:

Let's say someone is not subscribed to a mailing list yet and is browsing the mailing list archive:

http://lists.claws-mail.org/pipermail/users/2014-June/thread.html#start

Now he decides to subscribe to the mailing list because he wants to reply to a specific thread. How should he do this? I mean, he never got an email from this thread before. So how can he reply to it?

Or is there no way he can do it and he simply has to create a new thread?

PS: I have now replied directly to the email from Ian Zimmerman (currently using a webmail interface instead of Claws Mail though). Is it working now?

Regards
