[Users] A message wont display, and cannot be removed

Received a message; all the is displayed is:
  This message can't be displayed.
  This is probably due to a network error.

  Use 'Network Log' in the Tools menu for more information.

Looked at the log and found nothing there, no great matter; what annoys is that the message refuses to be deleted of moved to another folder.

How does one deal with such recalcitrant behaviour ?
