I checked the Network Log - and you were right on. There was an authentication
error. My password was set to my GMail password - and that no longer works!

Google now has application specific passwords (which they generate). After I
created an Claws Mail application entry, Google generated a unique password for
use with Claws Mail. I applied that password to the GData plugin and
authentication worked perfectly.

Thanks for the wisdom! Perhaps the need for an "Application specific Google
password" should be mentioned in GData.
