I am not the OP but I'm have the same issue and have not been able to
apply the patch. When following the instructions from
http://www.claws-mail.org/faq/index.php/Installation_and_Configuration#How_do_I_apply_a_patch_after_downloading_it.3F ,
I get the following:

tom:~/.claws-mail$ patch -p0 < fix_double_free.patch 
can't find file to patch at input line 8
Perhaps you used the wrong -p or --strip option?
