Series of screenshots of the problem

When I start Claws-Mail, its window is about 20 pixels shorter vertically than
on the previous startup. This happens over and over again, so that after >10
startups it's just a narrow stripe on my screen.

If I maximize the window, it will be maximized on even startups; on
odd-numbered startups, it will be about 20 pixels shorter than the desktop.
