I've never understood the need to CC somebody on a mailing list, TBH.  I
know not all lists require readers to subscribe (the OOo list comes to
mind) but surely, if anyone posting a question can make the effort to
do that, they ought to make the effort to read the replies.

My view is that a mailing list is like chatting to people in a bar, and
email is like coming to my house:  I chat to all sorts of people in the
bar, but I wouldn't all of them coming round to my house, uninvited, to
repeat everything they said in the bar.  IMO, it's rude.
