[Translators] How does one start this job

Hello all

I'm a newcomer at this list and thus hope you'll all bare over with me.
Hopefully you can help me with some newbie questions. How does one
really start with this translation job.

I see there is no current danish translation, how does one come about
creating a new language - is there a tutorial I have totally missed ?
