[Users] Filtering stopped working

I'm using CM 3.14.1 on an openSUSE Leap 42.2 system.

Filtering has worked well until about a week ago. I was away, but left my main machine running CM 24/7, so difficult to know exactly when the problem started.

I have enabled logging of filter rules. Here is an example:

Message headers:

To: opensuse at opensuse.org
Subject: Re: [opensuse] Asus laptop ?
Date: Tue, 23 May 2017 13:52:13 +0200
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:52.0) Gecko/20100101
 Thunderbird/52.1.0

Logfile entry:

[13:02:31] processing rule 'opensuse' [ subject matchcase "[opensuse]" move "#imap/Karmasailing/INBOX/Lists/opensuse" ]
[13:02:31] checking if message matches [ subject matchcase "[opensuse]" ]
> message does not match

But the message clearly *does* match that rule.

Filtering works when I do Tools > Filter all messages in folder.

How can I fix this?
