That's wrong. A mailing list by RFC 2369 provides mailing list headers.
If not the mailing list is bad.

If the preferences are set as mentioned, then it likely behaves the same
way, as the "Reply" button does ;). As already pointed out, the OP
expects a different approach.

Why do people use the same email address for "Reply-To" headers, as the
send address is?
