works for me, I tested it right now for the first time.

Perhaps you need to generate the locals.

You can see the already available locals by running

[rocketmouse at archlinux ~]$ locale -a
C
de_DE
de_DE at euro
de_DE.iso88591
de_DE.iso885915 at euro
de_DE.utf8
deutsch
en_GB
en_GB.iso88591
en_GB.utf8
en_US.utf8
german
POSIX

I only generated the German locals, just in case I ever should be
willing to do translations. Some software requires language packages,
but seemingly not claw-mail-git from AUR, but maybe claws-mail from
distros that split packages.
