It's only going to go away if folks actively participate in trying to fix it.
Maybe that's by doing something to Claws, or maybe it's by reverting the
change in freetype, or maybe something else.  But it won't magically go away.
I'm actually trying to inquire of people here who might have more insight than
me into where the problem is --or even if there is a problem.

Just for the record, I think I have a fairly well-calibrated sense of the
quality of Ubuntu rolling releases (i.e. the in-development version), given my
day job. :)
