[Users] sometimes claws forget the read-status of messages

Yes it does. I use Unison in a none-batch mode to do this.
Unison itself tells me that it sync and I checked on the filesystem
myself.

A lot of output of course. Maybe this snipped helps?
The folder "notify" was shown 100% read in the folder tree. Then I
selected it and got a bunch of messages as unread.
