Yep, that also works, as Andrej gently reminded to me on IRC.

Nevertheless, it has two caveats:
 • If the password has 'strange' chars they have to be URL-encoded by hand.
   This is a one time incovenience only, but it's easy to forget (I did!)
 • The username and password are shown in almost plain text when you open
   the dialog, exposing them to shoulder surfers.

The latter has already been considered as a security problem in the past
so I don't think is an usage to be promoted, but as always YMMV.
