I agree with you, Pete, for the reasons you state. Working software is
a precious thing, and you don't put that in jeopardy for aesthetics, or
syntactic sugar, or even a minor flaw that can be worked around.

LOL, I remember once some guy on the LyX (Open Source document
processor) list wanted the developers to make LyX look like a native
ios app on his Apple device. Out of touch much?
