This is my solution, it's better for you only if you say it is.

Create a tag called "Deal with this" and tag what ever e-mails
you need to deal  with later. You can keep  them in whatever
folder they were sorted into if you like.

Create two filters and add them to both pre-processing and
post-processing.
'Clear mark: ~tag matchcase "Deal with this" unmark'
'Set mark: tag matchcase "Deal with this'

You can even set and clear colors to make them stand out in an
article list. Folders with marked messages are themselves marked.

This might meet your needs, some other user's needs or only mine.
