Hi Neil,

If I'm understanding you correctly, this is a known situation with a
known workaround. What's probably happening here is when you press "m"
as you hover the menu selection, the "m" takes you to a different menu
selection. I know this is why you can't hover-set d as the hotkey for
delete: You must do the workaround. Here it is:

1) Hover-set the desired action to any unused key combo: The more
recognizable the key combo, the better, because you'll need to
search for it. I like using something like Ctrl+F12 so I can
search for F12. Remember that key combo.
2) Exit all instances of claws mail.
3) With a text editor, edit your Claws menurc file. On Ubuntu 13.10,
mine is $HOME/.claws-mail/menurc . Your mileage may differ.
4) Find the line with your new hotkey
5) Change that hotkey to the hotkey you REALLY want (m in this case)
6) Save and exit from the editor
7) Run Claws again. Your new hotkey should now work.
