[Users] Bug: Mixed GUI languages

I set as environment variable 
LANG=en_US
and started ClawsMail afterwards.

Much to my surprise the GUI shows now a mixture between german and english menus/texts (see attached snapshot).

Whats wrong?

Wouldn't it be adequate to introduce a real menu/option for selecting GUI language as thousands of other software tool do?
Fiddeling with environment variables was cool back in the 90th.
