I have just built a claws-mail .deb from a git install of version
3.9.2-53-g4c94b2, which is 3.9.2-53.1. However, after playing around
with it and checkinstall, checkinstall *will* fail when trying to
create /usr/local/include and any sub-directories. But it will create
a .deb if the programme is already installed! But it will take the
version of the already installed programme. Which is why the version of
claws-mail is as shown here. So checkinstall is still broken when
trying to run on a naked installation tree, i.e, there has not already
been a 'sudo make install' done.

Moving onto git, if I start with 'git clone
http://git.claws-mail.org/readonly/claws.git' then I get a clean version
number, whereas if I do 'git pull --all' I am very likely to get
'-dirty' after the claws-mail version number. IOW, if I start with no
directory of claws-mail then I will get a clean version, whereas if I
update the claws-mail directory it stands a very good chance of being a
dirty version.

In the fluxbox menus, the claws-mail entry is *always* in the 'office'
sub-menu, and *never* in the 'network' submenu, where all other
internet programmes are. Presumably the menu creation programme is
picking that up from some '.claws-mail.desktop' somewhere? This is just
a minor irritation, as I know where to look for the entry, but it
might cause someone new to it to have a slight difficulty.

Thanks
Sharon.
