I'm not sure that you're right there but I'm just doubtful 'cause I
don't know well the mechanism and the reasons  implied here. Anyway if
you're right, then why does firefox start with:
 TMPDIR="${MOZ_TMPDIR:-/var/tmp}"

This is what causes our trouble.
