Thanks!  It's safe to say you literally saved me a few hours work
migrating back to TB because this was frustrating me enough to
consider doing just that.  (And since I love the rest of claws I was
even cooking up ways to use TB only for *writing* emails -- since most
of my active mail is on an IMAP server that would be quite doable!)

I *still* dont like those extra widgets (I think they're a waste, if
you ever see how TB does it you'll know) but now it's only a
philosophical point and not a real irritant to my actual *use*!
