Thanks Paul, I did that and found the source of my disappearing mail,
as well.
On the machine upstairs, also running CM 3.8, I had been using POP
until about 6 months ago and some of the filters were set to move
messages to folders on that machine, and disappeared from the IMAP
folders.
I've now moved mail from my pop folders to the IMAP server.
My IMAP server is gmail, Virginmedia, and there is a limit on size of
attachments, so I was losing mail with attachments over 3M.
The solution was to use a POP3 server supplied with my domain name
which on downloading mail, I now filter to put on the inbox on the
IMAP4 server, getting past the attachment limit.
I took some time as I had to sort out 59000 messages.
