Yes i know about the extended search placeholders, but i never use it. Just plain quicksearch, with drop down menu to choose the search field(s).

Let's say sender (from) is "Hans Dampf <dampfh at wiz.com>". Thus i tried 'Hans Dampf' (without the ticks) and i when that failed, also tried dampfh at wiz.com. But nothing shows up.

This was on toplevel. It works however as expected when i try the same search on the subfolder where this mail actually is in. 
Is it me misunderstanding  that quicksearch generally does not work on the top level.
