Yes, GdkDC, GdkImage and the functions involved with them are gone. That would
be my next step; moving them to cairo.

Though, I still build against gtk-2.x. These steps are at least gtk-2.24
compliant.
But yes, the drawing functions throw an implicit-function-declaration warning
but link just fine in the end. I will see.
