Some where around gtk-2.12 or gtk-2.14 gtk changed the underlaying
printer solution. As far as I know the new printer solution was first
stabilized around gtk-2.18. Maybe you are caught in this transition -
some gtk applications using the old stable printer solution and others,
like claws-mail, using the new printer solution.
